Kumiko: A Japanese Dining Bar in Chicago

Kumiko is a Japanese Dining Bar (ダイニングバー)* where food and drink are treated with equal reverence. Located in Chicago’s West Loop, Kumiko boasts incredible cocktails and spirits with exquisite food to pair.

Owner and mixologist Julia Momosé blends Japanese ingredients and techniques to create an elevated menu of beverages and bites. 

We offer both an à la carte menu as well as a seasonal tasting menu.

Whether you come to savor some of Japan’s finest saké or walk in for a lovely dinner with friends, Kumiko welcomes you with warmth and gratitude.

Tasting Menu

 

Our seasonal tasting menu is rooted in Japanese ingredients, melding the cross-cultural experiences and techniques of our Chef team, Alex Ching and Josh Mummert, with the guidance of Creative Director Julia Momosé. We highlight the best of the season and curate the experience further with a selection of optional beverage pairings.

Please note.

We are currently serving our Summer tasting menu. Gluten Free and Pescatarian menus are available, but due to our cuisine and the dining experience, we are unable to accommodate a vegetarian or vegan diet, or omit shellfish or raw seafood from our menu.  We kindly ask for more than 24 hours notice for reservations, and any dietary restrictions or requests to make accommodations. Please plan for two hours for this experience. Reservations are non-refundable.

Service Charge.

We do apply a 20% service charge which is distributed equitably amongst the Kumiko staff. We keep the tip option for anyone who would like to leave something extra. Any additional gratuity goes straight to the service team. Additional tip is not expected or necessary, but is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Pairings may be added at the time of booking, or after a conversation with the team at Kumiko upon arrival. Pre-paid pairings are non-refundable.

Pricing.

Our spring menu starts at $150 per person, exclusive of beverages, 20% service charge, or sales tax.

The spring tasting menu is available to book for April 17th onward, and starts at $150 per person, exclusive of beverages, 20% service charge, or sales tax.
