Kumiko: A Japanese Dining Bar in Chicago

Kumiko is a Japanese Dining Bar (ダイニングバー)* where food and drink are treated with equal reverence. Located in Chicago’s West Loop, Kumiko boasts incredible cocktails and spirits with exquisite food to pair.

Owner and mixologist Julia Momosé blends Japanese ingredients and techniques to create an elevated menu of beverages and bites. 

We offer both an à la carte menu as well as a seasonal tasting menu.

Whether you come to savor some of Japan’s finest saké or walk in for a lovely dinner with friends, Kumiko welcomes you with warmth and gratitude.

Over the course of 2020, Julia converted this bar into a window and sidewalk café. Tisanes, tea, and coffee have always been an important part of our menu, but now they carry even more significance. Much of the last year was spent perfecting brewing techniques and selecting blends.

We are proud to serve an assortment of Japanese teas from Hoshinomura, a mountain village in Yamé, located in southern Fukuoka Prefecture. Our single-origin coffee and custom coffee blends comes from our friends at Sparrow Coffee Roastery in Chicago.
